Spell check, Grammar check, now Inclusive check? Google’s ‘Assistive Writer’

In April of 2022, Google quietly rolled out a very interesting feature called ‘Assistive Writer’ which automatically identifies noninclusive language like a spell checker. As the tool was reported on further, Google halted the Q2 roll-out of the “Assistive Writing” feature. But have you ever wondered how spell check works?

Microsoft Fails to get ISO fast-track for OOXML

Instead of adopting the already ISO approved Open Document format, it attempted to get through ISO a standard that, among other things, depends too much on non-standard, non-publicly available legacy file formats. They have increasing competition from OpenOffice.org, Google Apps, and, on the Mac, iWork. I’ll keep you posted. {

I think this model may become more prevalent, as organizations are not going to comfortable letting vendors store their data, but will want to take advantage of RIAs like Gliffy or Google Docs.
