Through a NetSquared Community vote, 10 finalists will be chosen. A panel of judges, selected by the Human Rights Center, will choose three winners, to be announced at the conference.

There does seem to be an active (but small) user community. But interestingly, Yugma is now integrated with Skype, which totally changes the whole audio on a separate channel issue. They now have a community edition, and there seems to be an active community of users. ReadyTalk is proprietary and not free (as in beer).

In ongoing conversations with John Gautam on Twitter, I've learned more about how their overall social publishing strategy which balances their curated content or "branded" content with community conversations to co-create social content. An important ingredient to our strategy was building a community around our mission.

Most recently, Michael Gilbert pointed me to a very good whitepaper by Nancy White about blogs and community. She has some interesting things to say about the emergent properties of blogging communities. I think the community aspects of blogging were somewhat unexpected. It’s worth a read. Which is just fine.)
