Sometimes it has worked swimmingly like this one with Amy Sample Ward in 2008, other times not. During the presentation, I’ll be on the Twitter back channel following the #netnon hashtag from the Independent Sector Conference in Atlanta. It is also helpful to have a back channel for communications with the moderator.

If web users knew of someone else who needed help, 44 percent would ask other people in their social network to contact authorities, 35 percent would post a request for help directly on a response agency’s Facebook page and 28 percent would send a direct Twitter message to responders. That’s why the Atlanta councilman used twitter!

I asked folks if they were on Twitter or Facebook, most people raised their hands. We met face-t0-face at a social media event in 2008, but that was the only time I had interacted her face-to-face.
