from MySpace to Facebook to Twitter to Foursquare. It’s a good thing I did or this blog and my communities on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and now Foursquare would likely not exist. Then in June 2008 I launched the @ NonprofitOrgs profile on Twitter. Social networking communities are migrant communities. It was ugly.

Plenty of conservative organizations use Drupal, Salesforce, online fundraising, Facebook and Twitter – using those technologies to push for ends that I am far from interested in seeing come to reality. I’ve been working with nonprofit organizations on technology issues (strategy, implementation) for about 15 years now.

I was recently asked to do a quick summary of this post by Guy Kawasaki, "Looking for Mr GoodTweet: How to Pick Up Followers on Twitter" which has been doing the rounds. Eventually, this will become too much to deal with and you can choose to follow only people whose Twitter profiles show that they are relevant to you. My take?
Tweetsgiving was one of the first Twitter campaigns designed to raise money. Built around Thanksgiving, the idea was for Twitterers to tweet (post) something they are grateful for, and at the same time post a link to Tweetsgiving where a donation could be made to build a classroom in Tanzania. The goal was $10,000. Not bad!
