Most weeks, people give me great surprises. Then, I get home, confined to the couch with a terrible sinus headache, to find ICOM was debating the definition of a museum. A different sort of ache began. ICOM matters because museums are a global phenomenon. People can only define museums on what we have now.

TL;DR A lot of really shitty people hate museums and hate that museums would even attempt social justice therefore museums are okay, maybe. It is well documented that most jobs in museums pay poorly. Gainful, full time museum employment is also notoriously difficult and competitive.

They give high-energy, interactive tours of the Metropolitan Museum and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). When they moved to the new facility, they decided they wanted to radically expand access to the museum, AND increase revenue.
