I’ve not had any experience with Springboard, but it’s important to understand that it is not open source, and is only maintained by one shop. Right now, there is an alpha release for Drupal 6, which is alpha in that very humble open source sense – it’s being used in quite a number of production sites.

Shell sessions are basically not doable, unless I am amazingly patient – the 4 second latency is definitely a problem in that case. YouTube ain’t bad. It even snowed a bit – and everything seems fine. But it didn’t stay good. About 5:00, the bandwidth hit the floor. It bounced back up a couple of times.
