For background, in the 3 previous NMC conferences I have been involved with since starting my job there in 2006- we’ve done mainly a “tag this conference” approach where we ask people to tag photos, web sites, blog posts e.g. 2006 , 2007 , 2008 where I cobbled together some summary pages using mainly my own Feed2JS code.

Set up Yammer to host an internal, private free Twitter feed for your institution. Yammer works like Twitter--people send out short messages that anyone can read or follow. Whereas blogs are a good reporting mechanism, wikis are a better collaborative tool. Most wiki systems also allow you to easily attach documents.
