After my old self-hosted WordPress blog hosted by MediaTemple was compromised over the weekend ( one of many )*, I exported the content (and removed the malicious injected link that started all the trouble) and redirected all traffic to judisohn.com and momathome.com to come here to my Posterous blog. Just didn't work.

I’ve moved it off of Typepad, and onto Wordpress. I’ve been rather impressed by how easy Wordpress was to set up and use, and how easy the migration process was. Choosing a theme Migrate the posts and comments (exporting it from typepad, importing into wordpress – all web gui based, very easy. That’s all.

Like any powerful CMS, though, there is quite the learning curve in order to get a site up and running. I’ll be migrating my main consulting site over to it quite soon. It will take some time and effort to get a site up, but that’s standard for any website. Joomla is growing fast. They just released version 1.5,

First, they are putting the wraps on a new version, and there are some interesting projects happening, like integrating voter files, phone banking , and my favorite, case management. A new site was launched called “ Green Nonprofits.&# I’m excited to see what community-driven development can do! It looks interesting.

They have a site, with the URL: [link] which is a link to a windows.exe file, which is a simple, sweet Debian installer. Changing one file (/etc/apt/sources.list) and running a few commands, should do the trick. But, the computers are networked, so it would seem – there must be some easy way, right?

If you want either of them to just serve up static files, they’re equally easy to use. FOSS that is accessible, popular, and widely-used-by-amateur-home-hobbyists (Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla) is fully of non-credible, immature, open source advocates.
