The conference was framed around the question: Given the convergence of networks and big data and the need for more innovation, what evaluation methods should be used to evaluate social change outcomes along side traditional methods? I followed the developmental evaluation thread most closely. Here are my notes.

They are setting the stage for transparent communication when evaluating compatibility and complementary “value exchange between partners” are in effect. Model selection. Implement a model that aligns most closely with the partners’ mission, capacity, and vision. Layer two begins with the implementation process.

Note from Beth: Last Spring, Allison Fine and I did an evaluation report for the Case Foundation on the America’s Giving Challenge 2009. That model uses social media a mechanism to give feedback. The results make me optimistic about scaling social good by leveraging information.
