Although I hate the idea of talking over lunch, I'm glad that two years ago, under former ED Katrin Verclas, we added the awards ceremony to our closing lunch at the NTC. A panel of judges, selected by Social Actions will choose three winners from among the 20 finalists, to be announced at NTEN’s Nonprofit Technology Conference , April 28, 2009. Winners will receive cash awards of $5,000 (first place), $3,000 (second place), and $2,000 (third place). How To Participate. Click on Username.

Developers who code solutions that integrate with Kintera using their open API platform, Connect , can win $15,000 or $5,000 (not the $25 K their big logo seems to suggest – that’s just the total they will award.) Kintera opens a Developers Challenge. When will people learn that to be open, you need to really be open ?

MPower Open , an enterprise CRM, is both open source, and has great open APIs. Don’t forget to vote for the DoGooder TV Nonprofit Video Awards. There will be way more on this in later posts. Convio keeps drinking the “open&# coolaid (although they have a ways to go.) They also launched their blog. There will be penguins!!

At the end of that panel, we all hoped there would be a larger nonprofit presence on the agenda for this 2009. And yes, indeed, in 2009 there were many more panel proposals about or by folks who work with nonprofits and voting. Doing More With Less: How Not-for-Profits Leverage Technology for Change: They've won Webby Awards.

I will write more about the API later, but everyone is really there to see the Facebook opportunity. My assumption is that you could custom build a Facebook application using the API, but if you wanted to use their Facebook connector, you would have to only have one. Interactivity. All the biggies will be there.
