Predictions for Nonprofit Fundraising Technology in 2012

NTEN published my somewhat snarky predictions for nonprofits' use of fundraising technologies in 2012. My overall predictions are that most things will be pretty much the same as last year (and 2010 and 2009, etc.): many nonprofits will struggle with out-of-date systems. No surprise -- many will also lack the funding to replace them.

The estimated two-year change in charitable giving to religion-related organizations between 2009 and 2011 is a decline of 3.7%—the Giving to international organizations grew 240.0% subsectors for these two years.

But a shifting communications environment and changing donor demographics could render those best practices ineffective at best, and obsolete at worst, as early as 2012.
