I got 7 versions of this today, at 2 different email addresses. Here's an article about a similar batch in 2007. Version 4: same sender again, but a different subject. They included an attachment called bbb_logo.jpg but no graphics in the message body. This scam has been around for a while. Council of Better Business Bureaus.

In its heyday in 2006 and 2007, Myspace was an incredibly vibrant community of artists, musicians, and impassioned activists and do-gooders. Then late in 2007 and throughout 2008, the spam on Myspace started to become overwhelming, while at the same time the naysayers and fearmongers were growing larger and louder.

It took a while, but I finally have a template that seems to be working well for us: I’ve tested the template in Outlook (2003 and 2007), Gmail, AOL, Yahoo and Apple Mail and it looks just like the screen shot above, or close enough. There are HTML editors of all different shapes and sizes. By a very wide margin.

You don’t hear about it much anymore, but in 2007 there were many stories of how MySpace was helping bridge the digital divide because low-income youth were logging in and teaching themselves HTML code. Their tool sets are completely different and as well as their purpose. MySpace and Facebook are apples and oranges.

Now here’s the bad news: if you don’t get on board with the new requirements, you’re likely to see your emails going to spam. What you need to know is that those are three different ways a recipient can authenticate an email. Unless you are a time traveler planning to send emails from 2007 to 2024, no need to worry about this one!
