I got a dozen spams today claiming to come from the FDIC. New security software is should be installed! New security software, should be updated! New security software, update required! Here are details on the exploit. The truly lame part is that the text is pale blue on white and is completely unreadable.

I'm guessing someone is taking their new spam software for a test drive. The subject line of both was "hi". The text was "How are you." Each took a twisting path through servers in multiple countries.

Here's another set of spams claiming to come from Inuit. Your Intuit.com software order. Your Quickbooks software order. The text varied slightly but was along the lines of this one: Dear Customer: Thank you for purchasing your software Intuit Market. An earlier batch asked me to provide my tax information. risk@bbb.org.

These spams aren't 100% lame -- at least they included a logo and some design elements. But the From: address is obviously not from Intuit and text is pretty lame: "Your Intuit GoPayment statement for ONTIMEE SOFTWARE, DEVELOPMENTS has been accepted." Your Intuit GoPayment statement for ONTIMEE SOFTWARE, DEVELOPMENTS has been accepted.
