I'm thinking about the use of video or vlog posts coupled with fundraising widgets as well as some other possible ways (ad revenue from web videos?) to raise money for sponsoring a college student in Cambodia via the Sharing Foundation. They raised $1,500 in two weeks from $10, $20, and $50 donations. I did a campaign video.

The Humane Society of the US won for the video “ Overlooked: The Lives of Animals Raised for Food.&# The winners will be announced at the NTC again this year, and hopefully the winning video won’t be too contrary to the meal during the awards ceremony! If your organization made a video—any video—in 2008, we want to see it!

They call the feature “Call To Action” and said that in their first test of this, Charity:Water raised $10,000 in one day. While Charity:Water raised a lot of money, I politely suggested that maybe it had as much to do with the video being featured by YouTube (and therefore getting a large amount of traffic) as with the new functionality.
