After she co-founded the Foundation For Friends of Nature in Bolivia, a million acres of natural habitat were put in to public trust. What's interesting about the way the organization is shifting into this place of more of a foundation, and more of that team, and sustainability, is it's giving me the space to build in my own sustainability. What they're coming up with, what they're saying, and how they're organizing. It's the only thing that keeps it going.

These are grassroots organizations, and they were helping each other with the most intractable problems that face women everywhere: domestic violence, sex trafficking, disease, discrimination. And, of course, because women's organizations always have too little money, I thought maybe a book would inspire other people to help.
