This year the award went to Nancy Jo Craig who runs the nonprofit Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The organization looks for opportunities to serve disadvantaged communities wherever it can.

What's interesting about the way the organization is shifting into this place of more of a foundation, and more of that team, and sustainability, is it's giving me the space to build in my own sustainability. What they're coming up with, what they're saying, and how they're organizing. It's the only thing that keeps it going.

She has been the recipient of many awards, including Fast Company's 2007 Social Capitalist Award, and the League of Women Voters' Women Who Could Be President Award. I think my favorite example of that is a women's group from the highlands of Bolivia who wrote to us maybe seven or eight years ago.
