They're like tags on Flickr, only added inline to your post. blogchat which is facilitated by @mackcollier and uses wthashtag to aggregate the conversation. For example, the #givelist tag aggregated all the suggestions from Twitter and then created this site. Another example, although not totally nonprofit focused is #blogchat.

" They are using tags to aggregate voter-generated content about Minnesota's 2006 election and politics. Click is an exhibition process in three parts: The Museum solicited photographs from artists via an open call on their website, Facebook group, Flickr groups, and outreach to Brooklyn-based arts organizations. Specifically, the Brooklyn Museum is doing research about the role of independence and influence in participatory experiences.
