After transferring my data and software using Laplink (and after figuring out that I had to decrypt my files first) I found that everything was owned by some mystery account. I found that their software wouldn't install under Windows 7. Some of the hardest problems have been getting Adobe products to install. exe from Adobe.

Setting up my new Thinkpad T400S

Laplink's software didn't warn that this might be a problem, and none of the the technicians I wound up chatting with suggested that it might be. While I like the Windows 7 interface, I'm finding that lots of software that claims to work with Windows 7 won't install or, or installs but won't run. This time, not so good. anti-virus.

A Month with the Palm Pre

The current version of Palm's WebOS supports Flash and I watched a YouTube video of an Adobe tech demonstrating Flash on a Palm, but it hasn't been released yet. Palm added a video camera feature with the last software upgrade. It has more features and I prefer the interface. My main complaint at this point is the lack of Flash.

I buy my software (for clients) at techsoup.org and ccb nonprofits (the latter sell Adobe products and hardware). I attend user group meetings, especially where applications of software I use is demo’d. I also buy a lot of books. O’Reilly’s good for a lot of tech topics. Sometimes vendors provide free demos.
