More lately, I’ve been working to focusing my advising practice on helping people implement open source software (mostly server-side) in their organizations, providing advice and training. I popped in my Fiesty Fawn (Kubuntu 7.04) CD that I’d burned from a downloaded ISO, and rebooted. It booted fine.

I hear Joomla is dead easy to install, and I need dead easy right now, so let’s try it. Well, guess what? Installing Joomla is dead easy.

It works pretty well (at this moment, I’m now downloading and installing the base system.) But I have to actually go buy some floppies, since I haven’t had a computer with a working floppy drive in eons.

As you can see, the download speed is fine, the upload speed is positively zippy compared to what they say it’s supposed to be. He connected the modem, which I happily connected to my Airport Extreme – and we’re off and running. It didn’t start out bad. The advertised speeds are 1.5 down, and 256K up. Be Helpful.
