I met Rufina in 2008 in Australia when I keynoted the Connecting Up Conference and taught social media workshops for NGOs. This prompted some amazing questions for children that age anywhere: How many jets did you take to get to India? Others examples include loans to schools in India and capital for small manufacturers in Ghana. These ventures offer solid rates of return as well as environmental and/or social benefits, sometimes called blended value. An easy example is green technology. Some are calling it impact investing.

CompuMentor in due course turned into TechSoup when it became a national nonprofit, and TechSoup Global in 2008 after it had become an international organization. This blending of different groups interests me now. I heard about it in Hyderabad, India, at an Ashoka-Lemelson Foundation event.
