Frankly, it didn’t go as well as we had hoped, and Lavelle worked with us to retarget the grant to focus on students with visual impairments. This experience helped us prove the potential of Bookshare to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Even in the United States, this was true of probably a quarter of our student users.

2] To better understand the skills and knowledge needed by nonprofit professionals, we conducted a needs-assessment study based on surveys of NMI instructors, advisory board members, alumni, and participants in NMI courses since 2007. Responses from NMI students and alumni reveal that 94% say NMI courses are relevant to their daily work.

I started doing this back in 2007 , when we won our first big federal contract for Bookshare, to take it from 3,000 students back then to more than 350,000 students now. law needs to change to comply with the treaty (the hope is that these changes are minimal).
