If you have profiles on social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook , make sure icons that link to those are on your home page. Use the "Google Universe "to your advantage. Tailor your site to best serve this population.

My own feeling is that social media is not a either/or to email or search engine optimization. There is some debate about how to order these components.
