I want you, whether you’re in the Congo or Darfur or if you’re in Iran or if you’re in Tanzania, Kosovo…you shoot that story like it’s your mother, your brother, your sister, your father and your cousin and you tell that in that way because that’s actually the road, I think, to not only clarity and truth and understanding.

So often, government control, or just lack of access to information and media, prevents people from really being able to be educated and informed about serious issues that are going on around them. Many of our trainees and journalists in Nepal do have children.

A month ago I listened to Christine Karumba, the Country Director for Women for Women International in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, tell Honorata's story on the Voices on Genocide Prevention podcast. There she found her five children who had survived by the kindness of strangers. Reunited, she began to rebuild their life."
