The Chase Community Giving contest on Facebook is one of the biggest online contests thus far, open to more than 500,000 charities. Very interesting to see the American Cancer Society on the list as its budget - according to a 2005 annual report linked on their Guidestar Profile is well over $10 million).

One particular quote jumped out at me, "The Facebook generation wears their causes like the way they wear their favorite fashion." Last month, I turned my blog pink in support of Breast Cancer and in September, I put on a red t-shirt. That's why I also remixed the fundraising widget. to support the monks in Burma.

There is also a groundswell of support all over the Internet, from bloggers ( one blog at a time ) Facebook , Flickr , Online Petitions , mobile phones , and Second Life.
