One takeaway: some California cities are finding that they need to raise private funds to make up for cuts in State and local funding. I just spoke on a fundraising panel at Compasspoint's Silicon Valley/Peninsula Nonprofit Forum. This means thinking and acting like nonprofits.

It lists an Adobe office in Canada, whereas the company is based in California. The sender's address is @newsletter.northerntool.com. No company logo in the message (easy to fake, but many spammers don't bother). I got two copies. Not a deal-breaker by itself, but another red flag.

I recently renewed my California driver's license. The clerk punched a hole in the license and gave me a paper "temporary license." " I didn ’t recall this procedure from my last renewal 10 years ago and assumed my old license would be valid until the printed expiration date several weeks hence.
