This updated blog post from the campaign explores some ways to increase online collaboration and also reduce travel and work efficiency. Have you ever thought about building an online space where different people can easily share their expertise on a subject or project? If creating such a resource seems out of your league, you might want to consider building a wiki. Typical wiki communities are work groups within a company, educators and students, and hobbyists.

I remembered that almost a year ago I was working on screencast about widgets for nonprofits to build community and had set up a wikispace called nonprofit widgets. A directory of developers with rating systems would help nonprofits connect with folks to build the widgets. Great to have the tools, but you need a strategy.

If you have a do-good project, or a small nonprofit that you want to promote, fundraise for, or build an online community around using social media, your first step is to create a plan. Build web traffic? Wikispaces , PBworks ) Using more tools isn't necessarily better. That said, many tools work well together.
