Basically, a couple months before your book's release you contact bloggers, podcasters and vloggers whose audiences are a good fit for your book and ask them if they would like to interview you, review your book, have you guest post, or host an interactive event with you using a service like Gabbly. You may also want to start Twittering.

BlogHer – a social networking site for women who blog – is a great place to find women writers who may care about your political and/or social issue. If you do a good job of connecting with these e-journalists, you may be able to garner more PR and leverage their networks for success. Contact us!

The question came from a diversity consultant while we were discussing how young people today are being brought up on social networks AND some statistics about age and email/social network use. LinkedIn LinkedIn is a professional social network, so it's ripe with job search opportunities. See who in your network knows someone at the organizations you'd like to work for. Ask if they'd introduce you to their contact so you can set up an informational interview. Cross-posted from BlogHer.
