While re-reading Echoing Green's book, Be Bold: Create a Career with Impact , I've been thinking about one of its main ideas--that people have moments of obligation. One of my moments of obligation came during the Green Festival in San Francisco in the fall of 2002.

I didn't want to jinx it, so I didn't mention it in my book review of Wangari Maathai's memoir, Unbowed , but I finished the book last week because on Friday my husband and I flew to Los Angeles to hear Maathai speak at a fundraiser organized by the African Millennium Foundation. The Green Belt Movement was born.

I moved to San Francisco. And then another program is Reclaim the Future, which is one our newest projects, that is addressing green-color jobs and building opportunities for low-income people, formerly convicted people, and communities of color in this new green economy. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
