The 2011 Millennial Donor report , the second in an annual series, focuses on engaging Millennials in fundraising. A compelling video won over 12% of donors, while fundraising contests only 42% inspired 5% to give. It’s an interesting and valuable report with a lot of great insights.

This is the first time that the indices have included fundraising data related to the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The Blackbaud indices include organizations that raised money specifically for Haiti relief in the year-over-year analysis. Some important trends will be explored later to show analysis of post-Haiti giving.

Earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, and New Zealand along with floods and landslides in other parts of the world drove donors to give online. This also signals a move by these groups to diversify their fundraising channels. International organizations raised a tremendous amount online in 2010.
