British children’s rights nonprofit AfriKids sent two of its staff members to a recent International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands. The money went to improving education for children across Northern Ghana through teacher training and increasing awareness among citizens of the importance of education.

The Press Institute for Women in the Developing World is an international nonprofit organization and citizen journalism initiative. Many of our trainees and journalists in Nepal do have children. CH: I was a foreign correspondent in Nepal from 2003 to 2004 and had a really amazing experience in Nepal.

For me, meditation is a practice of sitting down for half an hour every morning, or whatever the case is, and practicing awareness. What that means is that sometimes I start seeing things that I wasn't aware of before in myself, like my own motivations for things. How do we go about getting to that place?

And then another way we can help build brand awareness for the organization through our role as a board member is to allow the use of your name associated with an organization. So encouraging our board members and our volunteer leaders to engage with us on social media, again, really furthers our brand awareness and our audience as well.

I actually started out with International Studies, and more academic. A woman journalist from Sudan had her story about the flogging of a woman who was wearing pants get picked up, and it made international headlines. They're coming from Nepal, the Philippines, and Bolivia. I've realized that they're very related.

Marsha Wallace: Dining for Women is an international giving circle, and our mission is to support and empower self-sufficiency for women and girls who live in extreme poverty in developing countries. And most people are not aware of all these kinds of facts, and the struggles that women face. In 2011, we're going to Nepal.
