I attended a meeting at the SLTechSoup Office, a discussion forum on Avatar Marketing hosted by Harvard Berkman Center , and visited a donation site for the Make A Wish Foundation. It is like sending a personal email to the entire listserv by mistake. Then I teleported off to the Berkman Center discussion on Avatar Marketing.

Over fifty avatars attended. Over the weekend, the New York Times ran an article about education programs in Second Life. If you look at the photo closely, you'll notice that Alex replicated her Mac sticker cover for her laptop. Social Signal has also published a white paper on why Second Life and Virtual Worlds are important.

It's a busy time in Second Life , particularly for libraries, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. I got a little distracted with some IM networking because I ran into an avatar who I "know" from the SL Educator listserv - but hadn't met in-world yet. Got that?)

Educate about your cause. Today, I got a report via the TechSoup Second Life listserv about an awareness-raising campaign for homeless children in Second Life - reported here , here and here. Rik visited the homeless avatar: I decided to pop into SL to check it out. Mobilize: Give people something to do. And not just fundraise.

But there is also a trust issue too -- particularly if you don't know all the avatars in real life. I posted a question on the educator listserv and there doesn't seem to be one. Sometimes it doesn't support the process of collaboration effectively for all the reasons we already know.
