The photo recognition software uses a database of photos pulled from Gmail and Outlook (and at some point will include LinkedIn). Like XploR, the BlindSpot cane uses audio notifications by way of Bluetooth. The camera is below the handle and has a 270-degree lens so it can photograph the user's surroundings.

Impressions of the Palm Pre

I gather that Google can sync notes and tasks, even though they don't exist in Gmail or Google's calendar. Setting up a Gmail account was incredibly simple - I just had to enter my login info and the Pre knew how to configure the account. The Pre doesn't include voice memos or any other tool for recording audio through the mic.
