Quick definition Cloud computing is basically running applications on the web via “Software as a Service (SaaS)&#. That includes applications from Google Documents, to Salesforce.com, to Gliffy.com , (the service I used to create that graphic.) Also, you can access the applications anywhere you go.

This software as a service model of computing has the added environmental and budgetary benefit of needing a less robust computer system, servers, and installed software to host these applications. And be sure and check out the great online video, Google Docs in Plain English. The most famous wiki is of course Wikipedia.

As applications come in, the VC helps to narrow the pool, coordinate interviews, and run background checks. Training could also be done virtually with videos or through shared docs on a wiki. Sharing of opportunities among alumni and donors could be encouraged. Filtering candidates to assess fit is a crucial step.
