Today, people of color and low-income communities are more likely to be impacted by natural disasters, live close to hazardous waste, and die of environmental causes.

Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice.

The most important way for people to collaborate is face to face, so we have a number of ways that we convene women who are doing this work on various different levels. So our first exchange that we did with Global Exchange was called "Transformative Advocacy in Bolivia." We do it in a number of ways. It was really tremendous.

Britt Bravo: I think one of the things that make the Global Fund special is how women can submit grants, the lack of bureaucracy involved, and maybe you can talk a little bit about how you choose the people who are funded. I am quick to remind people in the United States that those rights were fought for.
