Someone like my Mom who uses her not-the-latest-and-greatest computer for email and web surfing and keeping track of her finances and buying stuff on Amazon. Yes, the iPad has its own iTunes store and Mom can manage her email and contacts in the iPad without syncing because she uses Gmail. It's for the casual consumer.

I've wanted to change to gmail, but need a slow period. If there is a book I really really really want, I search for freebie chapters on the Web or use the search inside feature in Amazon. Magazines: Can't afford subscriptions, but when you get offers for your extra miles. Right now I have wired and runners magazine.
