It is just important to have the right level of expectation (not every campaign will match the Red Cross's $32 million for earthquake relief in Haiti), and to convey a sense of urgency to prospective donors. Another method is to launch the call-to-action at a large event and let it build momentum from there. Questions and Concerns.

More than $250 million was raised online for Haitian relief efforts in the first 21 days after the quake through Convio powered emails, websites, and other campaigns (up from approximately $120 million in the same period during Katrina). A webinar on lessons learned will be held in Q2 to share some of the key findings with NTEN members.

One would like to think that after 20 years of testing, more testing, conferences, webinars, and pithy blog posts about online giving that there might be wide adoption of best practices. SMS text-to-give in the United States experienced a major spike following the Haiti Earthquake in 2010 but has never achieved inflated expectations.
