I considered going with an iPhone but haven't been wild about the user experience on my iPad (too inflexible, inconsistent navigation from app to app, Apple bans apps they simply don't like) and I can't abide the idea of a phone with a battery that can't be swapped (which also eliminated the new Motorola Droid RAZR from consideration).

As of September 2012, more email is read using a mobile email client than using a desktop email client (such as Outlook) or via webmail (such as Gmail). Priority #4: Start collecting mobile phone numbers and launch a group texting campaign. 38% of email is now opened on a mobile device , with 33% for desktop and 29% for webmail.

Here's what I've ended up with: Contacts: gSyncIt, via Google (my contacts sync to Gmail, then to the Pre). gSyncIt can get my notes into Google Docs, but those don't sync with the Pre and I don't want to have to get Internet access just to read or write a note. Tasks: gSyncIt, via Google. Calendar: Google Calendar Sync.

Disconnect the compromised device from the Internet. I have an installed email program that accesses my Gmail via IMAP, and this contains an address book that may have been accessed via malware. A verification code is sent to your phone when a login is attempted.
