The first one was started in 1991 by a San Francisco educator, Dan Sudran, in his garage. I came on in 2010 to start the statewide nonprofit network. At that point, we opened three new locations: Sanger , Greenfield , and a new San Francisco workshop in the Excelsior neighborhood because the Mission has changed so dramatically.
