From famine in Africa to war in the Middle East to global economic collapse, people are increasingly becoming overwhelmed by all the tweets, status updates, photos, and videos of gloom, doom, and despair. If it continues as it has, then I fear that many people will begin to check-out and become numb to our calls to action.

PopTech is an amazing blend of people, ideas, and projects. The cards include a set of "people cards" which includes snippets of market research.

Here's a few ideas to help make charitable giving get on your calendar each month for 2009. Ask people to donate to a cause instead of gifts. Last year, when I turned 51, I posted a challenge on my blog - could I get 51 people to donate $10 to the Sharing Foundation? But it doesn' t always have to be you asking people to donate.
