In 2008, we were the first customer of Samasource as they were getting started. I visited Daproim four years ago, and wrote about my experiences in a blog post about its founder, Steve Muthee. She runs a for-profit social enterprise named Daproim that provides data entry services using disadvantaged students as their primary workforce.

I’d like to share our experience with Lavelle, where they took a series of calculated risks in grantmaking. This experience helped us prove the potential of Bookshare to meet the needs of students with disabilities. We first extended Bookshare services internationally in 2008 with the launch of Bookshare in India.

Well, I just got my first one out in 2008! Benetech Update: Summer 2008 I'm thrilled to be writing you this update, because this year is unusually exciting even by Benetech standards. You can imagine the impact of Bookshare.org going from a $1 million per year enterprise in 2006 to over $7 million in 2008.
