The first example is Ushahidi – originally designed as a tool for mapping reports of violence in Kenya after the post-election unrest in 2008. At this point, social media is changing and growing as much as our environment both physically and politically – the options are so numerous they can be a real cost.

As long as we have massive global poverty, we really can't solve any of our other biggest problems because if you have people who are starving, they're going to do anything to stay alive.
