Orangutan Outreach is a New York-based organization whose mission is to save critically endangered orangutans and protect their rainforest home. Founder Richard Zimmerman started Orangutan Outreach in 2007, and the organization grew quickly thanks to a close affiliation with the Animal Planet series Orangutan Island.

Just over a year ago, musician, Olivia Greer , was commissioned by Culture Project , a New York City theater company, to write a song for the Women Center Stage Festival. Greer recently returned from the 2007 World Social Forum in Nairobi. Now she is the Producing Director of Women Center Stage.

We are both from New York, but felt that California was the right place to be. We're telling people to, of course, bring sweaters, because it's San Francisco, but we're also telling them to bring their own refillable plastic bottles and we're going to give them Hetch Hetchy 2007, that's San Francisco water. And we just did.

And that should be happening, as in those pieces of literature and reports published, probably around July of 2007. One of the things that has inspired us is the city of Chicago and the city of New York. A really good tool is movie nights. One of the landmark movies is called End of Suburbia.

She has been the recipient of many awards, including Fast Company's 2007 Social Capitalist Award, and the League of Women Voters' Women Who Could Be President Award. My favorite scene from the movie is these women, all ages, all sizes, going to surround the peace talks in Ghana, which were essentially going nowhere.
