At the beginning of the summer, I taught a master class and workshops with colleague Tharum Bunn from Cambodia at the IFC/Asia. In 2007, over ten years ago, I launched a crowdfunding campaign to participate in the first ever Cambodian bloggers conference, organized by Tharu m and colleagues. This week marks five years since the book The Participatory Museum was first released. I''ve given talks and workshops about it all over the world. I thought the pinnacle of participatory practice was an exhibit that could inspire collective visitor action without facilitation. Over 20,000 copies have been sold around the world.

I believe that setting that expectation at the outset made a big difference both in my eventual pay and the responsibilities offered to me. I designed electricity workshops for families. By summer of 2007, when I left the Spy Museum to move to California, the blog was a big deal. I got hooked all over again.
