Here’s some news on a now famous NetSquared alumnus project. Ushahidi is an NGO headquartered in Kenya. It is a nonprofit tech company that develops free and open-source software for information collection, visualization, and crowdsourced interactive mapping to help mitigate disasters.

One of TechSoup's less-known areas of work has been to support and promote the work of other tech-for-good organizations, like Ushahidi in Kenya. It can inform members of a community of critical information as it happens, and tell an event's story visually with maps, interactive charts, and other visualizations.
