For my 50th birthday, I held a 50th Birthday Card Photo Remix Contest on flickr and donated $50 the winner's favorite charity. If you're a blogger, you can run a comment for a donation contest. September is Hunger Awareness Month so why not give a donation of canned goods and cash to your local food bank? And, yes they did !

A nonprofit organization that provides support for homeless in Northern, CA found references to homeless people on restaurant blogs and used what they learn for a fundraising campaign.
