We brought a group of ten environmental justice lawyers from throughout North America to work in partnership with grassroots women leaders in Bolivia, with the focus on sustainable agriculture and food security issues.

I'm a complete magazine and media addict. What really pushed me over the edge was, day after day waking up and not seeing this magazine on the newsstands, not hearing it when I turned on the radio, and also the voices of the women that I had met was my biggest instigator. Our first magazine was published in 2004.

I got to talking last week with Kiera Butler of Mother Jones magazine about the best ways to keep the rechargeable batteries in laptops and mobile phones healthy and long-lived. It is mined mainly in Chile and there are also large deposits in Bolivia. Like all batteries, rechargeable batteries wear out over time.

It is very different to interview sex workers who have been trafficked in Phnom Penh, than to interview women who are doing knitting in Bolivia. It is easily the most difficult of the books that I have done.
