There is also some nice information in the article about app usage and how it varies by type of phone/operating system (OS). First, they will load regardless of which OS the phone is running on, whereas some apps aren't compatible with older versions of the OS. There's also Blackberry, Palm, Windows Mobile, and Symbian.

I could point to the Haiti disaster as the tipping point in cell phones -- for the increased engagement with donors, and more importantly, for the contributions of information from survivors. One was seeing two coeds standing on either side of the road at the Dartmouth Green talking on a cell phone to each other as I walked by.
