The FEMA app is available in the Android marketplace , with iPhone and Blackberry versions coming soon. Shelter information is updated every 30 minutes.

I could point to the Haiti disaster as the tipping point in cell phones -- for the increased engagement with donors, and more importantly, for the contributions of information from survivors. One was seeing two coeds standing on either side of the road at the Dartmouth Green talking on a cell phone to each other as I walked by.
