He plans to start a search fund (a vehicle for entrepreneurs to raise funds from investors) to find businesses – and intellectual property – that have a social focus to help out developing countries, particularly South Africa. A recent graduate of Rice University, Lum is working on her PhD in statistics at Duke University.

Does anyone in the room identify as an artist, by any chance? I just want to dispel the myth that we are not activists and that we are not artists. We're ignorant and don't understand the history of these oppressions and how they undermine our work as activists, and as allies, and undermines our solidarity with each other.
