One of my longtime flickr contacts, an artist named Darlene, just sent me a note that when her paycheck arrives, 10% is going to the Sharing Foundation. Donations thus far have focused mainly on library and school construction projects through various organizations. Are you a blogger? OMG, I can't believe this generosity.

Then I discovered the Internet and became the community builder for Arts Wire, an online network for artists that used a unix-based text conferencing system called Caucus. Anyone could volunteer to aggregate links in their field on their server - and would be linked to the main library on Switzerland. A totally manual blog!

Here are some BlogHers who are giving back through volunteering, or using their blog to advertise do * good opportunities: Rocks in My Dryer puts the word out for Operation Special Edition , a program that provides volunteer doulas for pregnant women whose husbands or partners are deployed when they give birth.
